Dancing Sands Distillery

New Zealands Most Awarded Distillery

Where the aquas are more aqua and the blues are more blue. Everything is a little bit better in Golden Bay

How do you build New Zealand’s most awarded distillery in just 2 years?

Ben & Sarah Bonoma never knew the rules so they didn’t know they were breaking them.

Ben and Sarah moved to New Zealand after falling in love over a long distance relationship. Many kilometers later, they found themselves in Golden Bay, New Zealand.

Their mission:
To bring the most stunning place on the planet to the world by creating an attention grabbing range of spirits by breaking all of the rules in the process.

TeKiwi - Kiwi Spirit Distillery

In the heart of Aotearoa there is a special place called Golden Bay. This little piece of paradise is now the home of New Zealand’s only Blue Agave Plantation

Over the last 18 years Master Distiller and owner Terry Knight has built and developed a range of creative, award winning, hand crafted spirits. This wide range of spirits made from fresh local ingredients has something for everyone to enjoy, Waitui Single Malt Whisky aged in Manuka Honey Mead barrels, JiuJiu Vodka, Totara and Championz Gin, Tangelo and Lime Liqueurs, and "TeKiwi" – the only 100% Blue Agave Spirit in the world made outside of Mexico.

Kiwi Spirit Distillery possesses a deep secret – our water. We draw water from our own well that is fed from the same aquifer that feeds the world famous Waikoropupu Springs – the clearest water in the world.

Mussel Inn Brewery

Intimate, rustic venue featuring a menu of bar fare & simple mains, plus regular live music

The Mussel Inn is a family friendly cafe / bar / music venue located in the heart of Golden Bay, North West Nelson region of the South Island of New Zealand

Built in 1992 by Jane and Andrew Dixon and their two sons, Henry and Toby, the Mussel Inn could be described as €˜Kiwi woolshed / tramping hut meets Aussie farmhouse” in style of construction. A single room with a veranda on three sides, solid wooden furniture (tables good to dance on), and a large open fire create a space that is rustic and homely.

No need to get dressed up - in fact there is no dress code  (although it would generally be more appropriate if some clothes were worn), the atmosphere is laid-back and family friendly.
